Metal

The Pup plates are made of 12 gauge plate steel. That is 1/10th of an inch thick. Once the Pup plate has been machined it is powder coated, chrome or gold plated.

Color Coating

Presently, I only offer flat or gloss black colors. I will add other colors if there is enough interest so let me know. All colored plates are "powder coated" for durability. If you don't know what powder coating is, check it out on the Internet. It is as tough or tougher than the paint on your existing guitar hardware.  Powder coated parts will resist the sweatiest, most acidic, dirty abuse you can throw at it.

Plating

I offer chrome or gold plating. The plates are first cleaned and buffed with a layer of copper added to improve the chrome and nickel's durability, luster, and adhesion. After plating, the ring will be buffed, waxed, and shipped.  For gold plates, several more layers of gold will be added on top of the chrome which produces a bright gold. Plating gold on top of chrome instead of copper really gives the finish a deep and bright look and improves durable.

The bottom line is that they are tough and look great. If you are not satisfied with the quality I will be glad to refund your money.
